IS YOUR CARPET DYING?

If your carpet is looking faded, marked and stained or simply discoloured. Think Carpet Recycling and help achieve a sustainable future. WHY RECYCLE EXISTING CARPET? American statistics (there are few NZ statistics) state that Carpet is replaced on average every seven years, for reasons other than wear. Yet carpet is given a manufactures guarantee of between 10 - 25 years. Consumers are therefore replacing their carpet well before it's use by date, purely because it's faded, discoloured, marked and stained or has a dated colour. The Landfill is the recipient of this premature carpet waste, where it takes 50 years for natural fibre such as wool to break down; and 250,000 years for man-made fibre such as nylon fibre and carpet backing, to breakdown completely.
How does it work? By purchasing a quality carpet initially and servicing it (just like you would a car) the carpet will retain it's excellence. A fresh new modern carpet colour, can be applied at any stage during its life. Stains and marks are disguised, discolouration corrected and a fresh new look is obtained. The consumer has extended the life of the carpet and saved unnecessary replacements costs, plus premature carpet waste is delayed in reaching the landfill. Simply caring for the carpet from the beginning by regular yearly cleaning and recolouring the carpet, on an as required bases, the initial carpet purchase will last 8 - 30 years longer than the current average 7 year expectancy.
Compared to the natural resources used especially in Nylon carpet manufacturing, such as barrels of petroleum oil and hundreds of litres of fresh water. Carpet Colourists use only a small faction of that water and vegetable based dyes. So the product is truly saving excessive use of our natural resources. Plus the chemical waste produced during manufacture, itself is highly toxic and difficult to treat. So the less of that, the better! Overseas especially in the US, UK and Australia there is a huge demand for Carpet Recycling services, which at this stage, seem to focus solely on the whether certain parts of carpet waste can be re-used, following extensive labour intensive separation of individual components. At this stage, only 2 - 4% of carpet waste can be reused, using this method. So, is your carpet dying? Or does it just need recolouring? Before you rush out and buy new carpet consider carpet recycling, one more way to help obtain a sustainable future. Carpet Colourists offer a no obligation free measure and quote, we'll assess your dying carpet and advise you on whether it's suitable for carpet dyeing, allowing you to make an informed decision whether to recycling your existing carpet, save yourself some money and help save to the environment at the same time.
